Aromatherapy

AromatherapyAromatherapy is based on the ancient art of healing. It was first used in Persia around 1,000AD and was brought to Europe during the crusades. However, the benefits of Aromatherapy were really brought to the world in the 1900s by a French chemist called Gattefosse. After burning his hand he panicked and plunged it into a vat of lavender oil. It healed fantastically! He then began researching qualities in other oils ...

Aromatherapy uses the essential oils from plants, flowers and fruits. The most popular way its benefits are enjoyed is by massage. Tiny quantities of essential oils are inhaled and absorbed by the skin to naturally restore a sense of wellbeing on a physical and psychological level.

Our Aromatherapy treatments at Fontwell Clinic are tailored to suit you and provide you with maximum comfort and relaxation. All blends are made straight after your consultation with our qualified Aromatherapist, so the oil is unique to you.

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head MassageIndian Head Massage originated a thousand years ago in India, where it stemmed from a tradition of family grooming. Mothers would massage their daughters' hair with different oils to encourage lustrous locks.

Benefits of this treatment include a reduction of tension headaches and eyestrain, and relief from tight muscles in the neck and shoulders. It helps to promote peaceful sleep and eliminate stress.

Reflexology

ReflexologyReflexology was first practised by the ancient Chinese and Egyptians to promote the body's own healing ability. It is based on the principle that reflexes in the feet and hands correspond with organs, glands and structures within the body. By applying precise pressure to reflex points in the feet and hands it is possible to assess and detect blockages and areas of stress.

Reflexology can be used to treat many ailments. It is gentle and non-invasive, but the greatest benefit that is gained from Reflexology treatment is relaxation. During this period of relaxation the client's own self-healing mechanism is kick-started into action and as a result, maintains a natural feeling of wellbeing and optimal good health.

Swedish Massage

Swedish MassageSwedish Massage was first developed in 3,000BC – not by someone from Sweden! The focus of a Swedish Massage is general relaxation but it is brilliant for enhancing muscle tone and is therapeutic in reducing muscle tightness. It combines all four massage techniques of effleurage, petrissage, friction and tapotement. This routine of long strokes and kneading promotes circulation and blood flow.
